Second, you finally get a full rein on decorating your house the way you want it to appear. You do not need to bother with a landlord permission if you want to give your wall a new treatment or if you want some renovation done. In a way, you can consider your new home a blank canvass and you the artist.

However, interior decorating can be a tedious job especially for a novice. It is hard to just figure out where to start. But do not worry, here are a few tips that you can use to help you start out.

1.    Before doing anything else, it is always best to think of a concept. Find a design theme that reflects your personality and suits your lifestyle. Your basic needs and your usual activities in the home will determine the following:
- lighting treatment
- wall treatment/ color
- division of space
- home accessories
- furniture

For example, if you are someone who loves to treat your home as an extension of the office, then most of the time you will need a bright overhead light to help you see all the paperwork clearly. For the wall treatment, you may want to use shades of green or blue to help relax your eyes after facing a computer monitor for extended hours.

2.    After thinking of a theme, set a budget for the interior design. This is very important because a house in itself is a big financial investment. At this point it is not wise to let yourself go broke over your house’s interior.

3.    Prepare a list of all the things you need to purchase and visit several home and appliance centers to canvass for prices. As much as possible, look for a shop that can give a good value for your money. It is also best to look for a center that has nearly everything you need. Why? Because when you buy in bulk, there is a higher tendency for you to get a big discount off your purchase.

4.    Go shopping! Start with the bigger items like bed frames, couches and dining tables. Make sure that their design blends well to your general theme. Once they have been delivered and put in place, you can start filing in the blank areas with several accessories.

5.    Do not overdo accessorizing. Putting in too much or too little can make or break the design of your home. Always work on a centerpiece – that accessory that stands out from the rest. The idea is to get something that will be grand enough to catch the attention of your guest but, it should not be too loud enough to destroy the harmony and continuity of your interior.

Wrought iron is a good material to work with, its natural color and grain can easily blend with any theme. Plus, wrought iron accessories give you a lot of options: from metal wall hangings, to candles sconces, hangers, to lighting fixtures like candelabras and lanterns. The intricate designs and colors of the metal wall hangings can make them great conversation and centerpieces.
