Wrought Iron Makes A Great Gift

Posted by admin @ 10:45 pm, October 24th, 2006

With the holidays coming up, many people I know have already started to get their gift shopping list made. It always seems that some people on your list are so easy to buy gifts for. You see an item they would love everywhere you go. My mom has always been that way for me. I don’t know if it’s because we are so much alike or just that she likes so many things, but I never have a problem there. Where I do seem to find myself dumb founded is what to buy when I am shopping for the men in my family. What should I get, a shirt or a tool? But not this year. I have found that though men in general, at least in my family, are not into knick knacks and what nots like women are so easily pleased by, they do like things made of iron. Wrought iron seems to be the perfect gift. It’s versatile, easily mixing with any decor, and it’s elegant yet strong and masculine at the same time. So when you don’t want to buy the men in your life another tool or shirt, remember that a wrought iron lamp, hook rack, or wrought iron wall art would be just the thing that would look great in his study or man room. For the women, a beautiful wrought iron candle sconce or elegantly flowing wall grille would be just the thing to bring a smile and sense of specialness to her day. So this holiday season remember that wrought iron does truly make the perfect gift!

The Elegance Of Wrought Iron

Throughout the years wrought iron has been used as a form of strength and durability in furniture and everyday items. Blacksmiths worked hard to sculpt and shape the iron into many forms for everyday use, such as tools, horseshoes, and furniture. It was built to last. Wrought Iron today is still made to last, but I have been noticing that there is a more elegant side to wrought iron then there once was. Magazines are filled with chandeliers and candles holders made of beautifully sculpted scrolls. One addition that can really make a wrought iron piece elegant is a touch of crystal. Wrapping your wrought iron candle sconces with a small bead garland can bring a touch of magic for the holidays. Or adding drops of crystal to your wrought iron chandelier can make a beautiful statement in the dining. Wrought iron is such a versatile piece, no wonder it has remained a decorating favorite throughout the years.

A Timeless Work Of Art

Posted by admin @ 8:49 pm, October 15th, 2006

I have always been a big fan of wrought iron home decor. There is something about the way a piece of wrought iron home decor can just fit into any type of style. Over the years I think we can all agree that our taste and styles change. In my first house I started out with a very fun and young pallet of yellow and blue with apple green and then to my next house that went much more sophisticated with dark rich colors, to my now current house whose style is more on the neutral side. My point is that through all of those different styles and colors, my wrought iron candle holders and wrought iron wall art have always fit in as though they were picked with that specific place in mind. It’s fun to try new styles and looks, but it’s comforting to know that know matter what, some pieces are just timeless.

Frank Sinatra And The Love Of Wrought Iron

Posted by admin @ 9:41 pm, October 12th, 2006

Recently I read an article in the ironews website, that can be found at www.ironews.com, and found out that Frank Sinatra loved wrought iron.  I thought that pretty interesting and wanted to share the article that I found.

Click here to see the original artical with a picture of Sinatra’s gate. http://www.ironews.com/fashion.htm

FRANK SINATRA’S HOUSE, 915 Foothill Road, in Beverly Hills, California, has a wonderful wrought iron gate.
The floriated design and the love for the nature of “The Voice” give to this gate a very particular elegance.
The american-italian Frank Sinatra was arguably the most important popular music figure of the 20th century, his only real rivals for the title being Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles.
In a professional career that lasted 60 years, he demonstrated a remarkable ability to maintain his appeal and pursue his musical goals despite often countervailing trends.
On records and in live performances, on film, radio, and television, he consistently sang standards in a way that demonstrated their perennial appeal.
The same perennial appeal of wrought iron?

Is There Such A Thing As Fall Cleaning?

Posted by admin @ 10:28 pm, October 9th, 2006

I have always been a spring cleaner. Every Spring I get the clean out the closets bug, throw away all the things I haven’t used in the past year, and clean and clean some more. I have always loved fall and having always lived where the weather is hot we are always welcoming fall with open arms. This year seems to be a little different for me though. I have I think what must be the fall cleaning bug, if there is such a thing. I can’t seem to stop organizing and decorating my house for the fall. I have filled my Wrought Iron Flower Boxes with bright beautiful mums. I have decorated my table like I am about to have a wonderful fall meal with friends and family along with adding pumpkin and ginger scented candles to my wrought iron table runner. This fall bug also has made me want to change furniture around, paint rooms, and add new and exciting home decor to my space. Is there such a thing as fall cleaning bug? I most certainly think so. I’d love to hear if you too have been bitten by the fall cleaning and decorating bug so please share what you’ve been up to!

Falling For Wrought Iron

It’s that time of year!!! The leaves are changing, there’s a crisp chill in the air, and pumpkins are popping up everywhere. I love this time of year and I especially love to decorate for this time of year. Wrought iron decor is a great base for bringing in the different seasons. Wrought Iron window boxes are a beautiful way to show off those brilliant fall mum colors. Add a warm fall feel to your home by putting ginger or pumpkin candles in wrought iron candle sconces or set a beautiful table centered with a wrought iron votive holder table runner laced with fall berries and fall colorered candles. Decorating for fall can bring a sense of warth and comfort to your home and it’s easy with a few fall colored accessories and the great look of wrought iron. I’d love to hear how you’re decoring for fall too, so please feel free to share your great decorating ideas.
